From Inverness centre
Take Island Bank Road (B862) (parallel) to the river heading south
towards Dorres. After about 3 miles turn left at the round-about. At
the next round-about turn right into Essich road. Highland Rest is located
½ mile down Essich road on the left hand side.
From A9 North Bound - (from Perth)
Exit A9 at the junction signposted Culduthel. Continue straight over
the next 6 round-abouts. At the 7th round-about turn left into Essich
road. Highland Rest is located ½ mile down Essich road on the left
hand side.
From A9 South Bound
Exit A9 at the junction signposted Culloden. Turn left at the traffic
lights T-Junction. At the Inches round-about (Tescos on left) take the
2nd exit signposted Culduthel. Continue straight over the next 5 round-abouts.
At the 6th round-about turn left into Essich road. Highland Rest is located
½ mile down Essich road on the left hand side.
By Train

Located 3 miles form Highland Rest, Inverness railway station is a busy hub for the Highlands & Islands. Intercity trains run to Aberdeen, Perth and Edinburgh, linking to London King's Cross, the rest of Scotland and England. The Caledonian sleeper trains run a popular overnight sleeping car service. Within the region Scotrail run trains to Aviemore, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Kyle of Lochalsh (for Skye) and Perth.
Highland Main Line
The Highland Main Line is 118 miles long and runs through the Scottish Highlands linking a series of small towns and villages with Perth at one end and Inverness at the other. Today, services between Inverness and Edinburgh, Glasgow and London use the line.
Aberdeen to Inverness Line
The Aberdeen to Inverness Line is a links Aberdeen to Inverness Kyle of Lochalsh Line.
Kyle of Lochalsh Line
The Kyle of Lochalsh Line runs from Dingwall to Kyle of Lochalsh the population along the route is very sparse, but the scenery is certainly very beautiful, and many of the passengers on the trains are tourists.
Far North Line
The Far North Line is a rural railway line entirely within the Highland area, extending from Inverness to Thurso and Wick.
